We are the New Homemakers. We help people - especially women - feel confident taking on home renovation. For the past year we’ve been teaching workshops in DC and Virginia, and by demand, we are taking our program on the road this September. In order to reach 500+ women in person, we are seeking sponsorship in the form of event space, lodging, marketing, or financial support for our 16-city tour.
Did you know that single women are buying homes at two times the rate of single men even though we have 37% less purchase power? As two women who figured out how to live affordably and creatively in one of the nation’s most expensive cities, we are redefining what it means to be a homemaker. We've renovated multiple properties, built a tiny house community, and created rental units and shared living spaces in our homes.
Our core home renovation workshop is designed by women, for women, and open to all. Attendees are ethnically diverse and span the ages of 28-70, most of whom are working professionals. The majority of participants are women, and two-thirds are already homeowners. They are hungry for practical resources and information on how to successfully take on major home improvement projects.
Ninety-eight percent of our participants say they feel both more informed and more prepared for their home renovation.
“I attended the inaugural session of this FANTASTIC workshop and I highly recommend it for womxn who are dipping their toes into the renovation waters. Even if you have a general contractor who will be overseeing the work, this is the best $ you can spend on your home.”
“"Workshop was extremely informative and well organized"
"I now know I can do this. Thanks for helping build my self-confidence."
The women attending our workshops have shared their experience with their friends, meaning we are now responding to nationwide requests for workshops in the following cities by setting out on a tour from September 6 - October 1, 2019:
We greatly appreciate your interest and support. Previously, we have recognized our sponsors by sharing company information with our participants, placing logos on our company van, and through our marketing outreach on social media and in press interviews (NPR, Dwell, CNN, CBS, Inhabitat, Atlantic Monthly, Outdoor Magazine).
